This recipe was given to me by an aunt in Bremerton, Washington. She used molasses which is excellent in the finished cookies. I did replace the molasses with corn syrup in the actual written instructions -- my husband's preference. Effective March 2021, PaulaQ will begin replacing Canola and vegetable/seed oils in recipes with pure lard from Reverence Farm, coconut oil, and avocado oil.
